Zipper Not Running Smoothly on Your Irish Store Cardigan
If the zipper on your new Irish Store cardigan isn’t running smoothly, here are a few quick steps that usually resolve the issue:
1. Zip Slider Not Running Smoothly
Occasionally, the zipper puller may not glide easily along the teeth this is uncommon but easily fixed.
Try this:
Gently run the tip of a lead pencil (graphite) up and down both sides of the zipper teeth.
Graphite acts as a dry lubricant and often frees up the slider immediately.
2. Wool Caught in the Zipper
Because the cardigan is knit from natural wool, sometimes fibers can get caught in the zipper.
If this happens:
-
Do not force the zipper.
-
Hold the fabric taut and away from the zipper while slowly pulling the zipper slider backward.
-
Use tweezers to remove any stubborn threads or fibers.
-
Trim any loose yarn near the zipper track so it doesn’t catch again.
3. Misaligned or Damaged Zipper Teeth
If the issue seems to be with a specific section of the zipper:
-
Use needle‑nosed pliers to gently straighten any bent teeth.
-
If the bottom pin (the box) looks damaged, please send us a clear photo—we will be happy to arrange a replacement.
